Sharing my Adsense earnings growth journey and insights on choosing website building tools.
Why I Want to Share This
After managing my blog for a while, my Adsense earnings have gradually grown. Although the numbers are not astonishing, it is a great encouragement for me.
At the same time, I am often asked, “What tools do you use to build your website?” So this article combines earning experiences + website building tools insights, hoping to provide some references for friends who are exploring.
Adsense Earnings Growth
At the beginning, my daily traffic was very low, with only sporadic clicks, most of which were generated by myself. I was quite surprised that there was any income at all?
However, after about 3 months of operation, the situation slowly improved:
- Month 1: A few cents a day, sometimes even nothing
- Month 3: A few articles gained traffic through my own sharing (thanks to my friends and family ♡), and with new articles published, I could earn nearly 1 dollar a day
Disadvantage: The layout is super ugly, and the constant pop-up ads affect reading. But for me, I had no choice… because I have no money TT
💡 I found that the type of content that usually brings the most traffic is sensational titles, such as “It turns out XX…”. If you look at the sharing volume on Instagram or other social media, usually those who message for attachments will explode.
Website Building Tool Choices
Before starting, I hesitated over many options:
- WordPress: Powerful, but I didn’t want to spend money.
- Google Blogger: Can directly place Adsense, the template is relatively complete, but the review process is difficult, and customization is limited.
- Various paid software: Simply put, I have no money…
- Next.js: GPT kept recommending it to me, saying it has good performance, but for me, the setup is a bit complex, so I didn’t even try.
- Astro: Focused on content-oriented, with almost no barriers to deployment, perfect for blogging.
In the end, I chose Astro for building my site, but limited to article writing, while the main website is still composed of html+css+js. The advantages are:
- Simple deployment, can go online with GitHub / Cloudflare Pages.
- Can directly copy the Cloudflare Pages template without setting it up yourself.
- Google PageSpeed scores are higher than writing from scratch.
- Can flexibly use Markdown, although I am still researching how to manage my content more intuitively.
Disadvantages: The community and plugins are less than WordPress, and you need to set things up yourself.
Small Suggestions for Those Who Want to Start
- Don’t get bogged down in technology at the beginning, just focus on writing content. Having traffic is the key to (real) development (opportunities) and (income)
- Keep updating, rich content is what attracts clicks.
- Don’t strive for perfection, everything has to start somewhere～
Conclusion
My Adsense is still in its early stages, but every bit of growth gives me a sense of achievement.
Next, I want to try other monetization methods (like sponsorships, digital products). Recently, I am trying to use Gumroad to sell digital products, but if you look at the commission, Patreon’s interface is still more user-friendly.
