🌺 After obtaining the visa, the other enrollment procedures
Average grades can still lead to a brave journey of exchange. This is my experience and insights to share.
Recently, I registered for an ID on the UH Mānoa main page,
and I got an email ending with @hawaii.edu, which is awesome!
It’s quite different from NTU’s @g.ntu.edu.tw, which is a bit too long.
After logging in, I entered a page similar to myNTU,
and it feels like there should be a lot of interesting resources hidden inside,
I’ll explore it properly after midterms (for now, just surviving midterm week 😆).
What’s particularly special is—
myUH requires two-factor authentication to log in!
You have to receive a text message, which is a bit of a hassle,
but it shows that the school really values cybersecurity.
💉 Health and Vaccine Data Upload
For health certification, you can print out the public vaccine record using NHI Easy Card,
then translate it yourself and upload it. (I didn’t expect it to be this simple)
If it’s a self-paid vaccine (like some I got at a clinic),
you’ll need to ask the doctor for a separate certificate.
(No records for self-paid vaccines, how sad Q_Q)
NTU’s health center offers discounts for vaccinations,
but it’s a bit hard to make an appointment, so I’ll see if I can just get vaccinated on-site later.
Taking the University of Hawaii as an example,
these vaccination records need to be sent to a platform called MedProctor,
and they will help with the review.
Interestingly: you can pay $15 for them to “expedite” the process,
but who would really be in such a hurry to spend that money just to know the results sooner? 😂
Basically, as long as it’s completed before 2026/01/12 (after I arrive in the U.S.), it’s fine.
I just want to get these procedures done while I still have some free time.
🧭 F-1 Visa Course and Test
Next, I need to complete an online course and test about the F-1 visa,
which mainly covers some regulations and precautions for international students in the U.S.
It seems like a “study abroad newbie training camp” concept.
Anyway, it just talks about some regulations, like you can’t work illegally, you can’t…
But for this part, I just clicked “understand,” since like many consent forms, if I don’t agree, I can’t complete the procedures, so I simply skipped it.
The only steps I can do now are the two above—the rest can be done after I get to the U.S.!
✈️ Next Task: Flights and Accommodation!
Once these procedures are completed,
I’ll enter the stage of “booking flights + finding accommodation.”
But to be honest, accommodation in Hawaii is unbelievably expensive,
so I’ve decided—
to have my sister accompany me! (Although she won’t be much help in reality 🤣)
